The Barbados Synagogue Historic District features the oldest Synagogue in the Western Hemisphere. The main points of interest on the site include the Nidhe Israel Synagogue (1654), Nidhe Israel Museum that showcases the history of Jewish settlement in Barbados, Mikvah that (ritual bath predates the Synagogue), and a Jewish Cemetery with gravestones dating back to 1658.
The Barbados Synagogue Historic District is located in Bridgetown, the capital city of Barbados. Bridgetown and its Garrison was designated a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2011. This Historic District covers an entire city block that features some heritage buildings dating back to the mid-17th century. Since its official opening in April 2017, the Barbados Synagogue Historic District represents a significant heritage tourism attraction for the island of Barbados.
